Product ID: SILICON
Silicon Carbide Element
Elements are ceramic bonded
blocks of a chemically and electrically stable refractory material. This
material is capable of carrying high surge current with a resulting low
discharge voltage, while offering high impedance to 60Hz power follow current.
The valve block's uniform density results in equal current distribution
throughout each block. The blocks are coated with an insulating surface along
its circumferential length. Each end contact surface is sprayed with a
conductive metallic coating to provide an efficient current interchange point.
Silicon carbide has proved to be an excellent material for the production of
voltage dependent resistors for surge arresters and other voltage protection
devices.
Features:
- Elements are available for normal duty distribution class arresters and
design has been tested in accordance with ANSI / IEEE C62.1.
- High reliability and excellent durability. More than 1,000,000 units have
been manufactured.
- Glazing
of side treatment (nonflammable).
