Surge Arrester

      Arrester use an air gap in series with a non-linear silicon carbide valve element to discharge surge current and limit the resulting power follow current. Type BV-A distribution class surge gap type arrester are designed and manufactured in accordance with IEC pub. 99-1 as well as BS pub. BS-2914 and NEMA pub. LA-1. Type BV-A surge arrester are available in standard ratings for 4.5KV through 30 KV. The small size and gap design makes the type BV-A overhead distribution class are an ideal choice for riser-pole protection areas of high contamination such as seacoasts and industrial sites, or open-point arresters for cubicle mounting of live-front distribution system.

Features:
  • High reliability and excellent durability. More than 100,000 units have been manufactured.
  • Porcelain housing. The high strength wet-process porcelain incorporates a long leakage path to significantly reduce the effects of contamination.
  • Automatic isolation. Helps prevent line lockout by disconnecting a failed arrester from the system and serves as an indicating device that the failed arrester needs replacement.
